While going down an "Architectural Digest" rabbit hole on youtube, I started fixating on the idea of having a home built on the edge of a cliff. I love the juxtaposition of having the home be entirely exposed to the outside yet be in total privacy. Every corner of the house would provide access to the breathtaking view
The initial sketch of the concept. I wanted to integrate the feeling of a plane taking off into the home's design.
Walking past a construction site one day, I came across blocks of styrofoam in a pile of trash: the perfect building blocks to carve a mountain out of.
The formation of the environment was accomplished by gluing stacks of styrofoam blocks atop one another. Using a small saw blade, I carved the styrofoam to my desired shape and used a heat gun to harden the outer surface.
