GLO Case

overview

I was commissioned to create a lantern for an iPhone flash. This project was completely open ended and could have been tackled any number of ways. I was inspired by the type of geometry used in pop-up books/cards. I decided to integrate this kind of design into a practical phone case.

Process

Concept Generation.

The original sketch of the idea I had for the Glo case. The idea was to have the concentrated light from the flash be scattered and diffused using the intertwined geometry of the individual papers.

I wanted the lantern to remain open via magnets. I designed the case to have an integrated magnetic strip which extends and allows the lantern to open and snap into place. The lantern was designed to snap closed using a magnet as well.

3D Model.

The idea was modelled on CAD software.

Logo.

I took the liberty of creating a logo as a fun addition to the project.
