HabiCat 67

overview

Growing up in Montreal, I always had a fascination with the architecture of Habitat 67, a brutalist housing complex built for Expo 67. I thought it would be fun to design a playhouse for my cat modelled after Habitat 67.

Process

Challenge.

Being that my family's home is very small and only consists of one floor for the 4 of us, this playhouse could not take up any additional space. I landed on the idea that it be designed to fit perfectly within the volume underneath the coffee table in our main living space.

Floor Plan.

The playhouse has three floors, each with multiple entry and exit points. The top floor has one central area exposed to the outside to be visible through the glass tabletop.

Each level was cut from 1/2" wooden slabs and screwed together.
